Tinker's Bubble Photos

I've recently been for a working holiday at Tinker's Bubble, an intentional community in Somerset. I keep thinking I'll write something about it and then I keep changing my mind about exactly what I want to write - every time I've been I've had quite complicated feelings about it.

I've just put some photos up on Flickr so I thought I'd link to those first - they're not brilliant, but they might give a general idea of what some of it is like. Some text to follow probably at some point...

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but words use less bandwidth and I'm usually short of bandwidth at the end of the month. I'm going to visit an intentional community today, called Nieu Communities. May write about them on my blog when I get back.

Hi all,

Thanks for the encouragement - I will eventually get around to doing some more about the bubble.

Steve I will check when I'm not up so late to see if you've written about your trip yet, I'd be interested to read it if you have.

Hi Alison,
Lovely, and I also came across the blog when looking up tinkers bubble... When I've wanted to write on experiences like this and it's as though you can't make sense of it till your mindset is able to adjust or maybe change radically in some way. That's probably the greatest gift of the community, and the place to find the hope for the future...? Anyhow, thanks :-) Jonathan

Hi Alice just came across your site looking for photos of TB and other eco villages. It is a radical way of life if you've spent your life living in a house, but actually, after a while you get used to it and never want to go back to house living. It brings a kind of peace you would never find in a square box. I speak from experience -I'm an ex new age traveller-I moved into a house 15 years ago and I've never got over the lifestyle. Some friends and me are at the moment looking at creating something like TB, the planning is a nightmare, but it can be done, as is proved by the exisitence of places like this. Thanks for posting the lovely photos. What did you think while you were there ? Jane .
